Control4 started out as a small company that was fighting for some market share. Now that they have some market share they lock you out of being able to manage your own hardware. You will be bound to pay a Control4 dealer to program your system every time you want to add or change your system. Trust me, I have over $40,000 dollars invested with them.
Pro Audio Subwoofers Commercial. Control4 Composer Home Edition. Part #: C4-CHE. About Control4 Licenses. Control4 software and licenses are the backbone that. I can post the link to download the composer from control4 as. I used Control4.Composer.Pro. I have all the original Control 4 Composer Pro software.
I would NEVER buy one of their systems again. I'm on the market to get something that will not cost Crestron money and does not fail like Control4 does on a regular basis. If I would have been told I can have a Smart Home that I pay for hardware, but ultimately can't use because its worthless without software.
Let me make myself clear. You have ALL been warned! As long as people buy this *** they will continue to think they are more important than You and I.
I am VERY tech savvy and there is no reason to do this other than to squeeze you of every dollar until you had enough. Had my complete new house fitted with Control4. Complete nightmare ever since. Spend almost 30K on Equipment special dimmers, touch screens etc. And it keeps freezing. Have almost all components replaced, new HC1000, HC250's TC's and their newest OS.
What happens during the holidays? Complete blackout, no alarm, no lights, no audio, no curtains, no pool. And the dealer?
Sure we will come and reboot it for you, since you can't do it your self. The idea is great but in this stage it's just horrible. Stocks are down to seven dollars. If the company collapses I have to have my house refitted. For my holiday house I'm going for an open standard next time, not something that will only work if you keep pouring cash on it. I'm with you on this, I too have spent over $40k, then I'm told that Control4 was aware of the problems and that I have to buy new equipment.
Give me a break it's only 2+ yrs old. Its called Control4 for a reason THEY CONTROL US. Was sold on this company by a swift talking salesman after my electronics were damaged due to lightning strike and let him change what I had which was an Elan system and it worked great.
The song goes regrets I have a few the first one on my list is EVER BUYING CONTROL4. And on top of that you have to pay a yearly service fee if you want to control it yourself. Buyers beware stay away from this company. I'm going to leave my emotions out of it and simply say. Control4 is a brilliant idea, executed well - though not flawlessly - and let down by hardware that isn't as reliable as a light switch should be, and also by software that is hobbled.
(When a $100 light switch fails and you can't swap it out yourself, that's a MAJOR problem in my books. And I have expensive Control4 amplifiers that last just longer than their warranty period.) My investment is probably nearer $25k. And I would also never equip another home with Control4 *or* recommend it. You have to understand. If Control4 was to just give you Composer and let the home owner program the entire project, you would do a horrible job. So, Control4 decided to 'protect' themselves and not give the home owner the full program. You can download the Composer HE edition which lets you do a lot of programming, lights, media.
